Marion County firefighters rescued a woman from a house fire fire early Thursday morning.
The woman called 9-1-1 to say she was trapped inside her burning mobile home at 3:56 a.m.
“She was struggling to breathe and moved into the bathroom and lost contact with the call taker,” according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.
Firefighters from Rolling Greens Rescue #28 arrived at 4:06 a.m. made entry and began search operations. Additional crews arrived and began extinguishing the fire.
Rescue 28’s crew removed the victim by 4:11 a.m. and she was treated at the scene before being transported to the hospital .
“We train for these exact moments,” Fire Chief James Banta stated said in a statement. “Crews on scene were well prepared and executed this rescue flawlessly. Because of them, the patient has another chance at life. Thank you to all crews on scene, I could not be more proud to be your Fire Chief.”
