An Antigo firefighter/paramedic accused of inappropriately touching two cadets has been placed on unpaid leave.

John Krueger was charged with several counts including three felonies, according to WSAW.

The victims reported inappropriate touching and flirtatious behavior made them feel uncomfortable. The alleged incidents took place between June 2021 and Dec.31,2022.

Krueger, who created the cadet program at the department, initially denied the allegations, but later told authorities “there’s a possibility” he touched a victim, but didn’t think anything was over the line, according to court records.

Mayor Bill Brandt told reporters: “…We feel at this time that’s in the best interest of the city and our taxpayers.”.

Charges include sexual assault of a child by a person who works or volunteers with children, 4th-degree sexual assault, and misconduct in public office. Bail was set at $1,000.

A judge also told him not to have any contact with the Antigo Fire Department unless law enforcement is present.
