1:00 a.m. update

Seven hours after the 5:30 p.m. crash the two people from the plane were removed and sent to a local trauma center. Chief Goldstein described their conditions as serious. Goldstein said the electrical grounding was completed at 11:30 p.m., the securing of the aircraft to the tower was finished at 12:15 a.m., the passenger brought out at 12:25 a.m. and the pilot at 12:36 a.m.

9:00 p.m. update

Montgomery County Fire Chief Scott Goldstein says they are waiting for the power company’s tower contractor to ground the power lines to ensure safety. After that they will work to secure the plane to the tower. Once it’s secured they will work to bring the two occupants of the plane to safety. Goldstein says they are in touch with the two people by cell phone. He also says they are conserving power to their phones. Goldstein would not provide details on the condition of the two people.

The plane is a Mooney M-20. Flight Aware shows the flight from Westchester County, New York ended at 8:29 p.m., the time of the collision.

85 to 90 thousand customers remain without power.

Foggy conditions have, at times, obscured the live view of the plane.
