LAWTON, Okla. — An off-duty EMT and her mother and brother helped a family of five escape a house fire Saturday in Anadarko, KSWO reported.

Elizabeth Sauls said her brother saw flames on the roof of the home and dialed 911. The Kirk’s EMS provider said her mother ran across the street to the home, and Sauls went over in her truck.

The two women banged on doors and yelled, waking the residents.

Neely and Duke Tsoodle said everyone was asleep and no one heard or smelled the fire.

“That was the scary part, because of course if someone hadn’t alerted us, maybe we wouldn’t have known or maybe been too late,” Duke said.

Sauls said she is grateful to be able to help.

“I lost two family members to a house fire about 10 years ago. So to be able to make sure another family doesn’t have to go through what we went through is everything,” Sauls said.
