Bethany Lakes 071222

On Tuesday July 12, 2022 at 0926 hours the Millville Volunteer Fire Company along with the mutual aid box assignment was dispatched to the 31000 block of May Drive in the Bethany Lakes Development for a reported house fire. First arriving Engine 84-2 under the command of A/C Mike Melson found fire showing from the rear of the home on all floors and the attic. The crew from Engine 84-2 placed a 2 ½” blitz line in service knocking down the bulk of the fire prior to initiating an interior fire attack. The crew from Tower 70 under the command of A/C Phil Brackin preformed primary searches throughout the residence. A second alarm was struck bringing additional units to the scene. Primary and secondary searches were negative. Units were able to bring the fire under control in approximately one hour. Units from Bethany Beach, Roxana, Frankford, Dagsboro, Ocean City MD, Selbyville, Millsboro, Rehoboth Beach, Bishopville MD, and Georgetown fire companies either provided assistance at the scene or provided regional coverage. Sussex County EMS and Millville Ambulance provided rehab services at the scene. Fire Chief Guy Rickards had command of the incident. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
