OTTSVILLE, Pa. — Pennsylvania firefighters are packing up gear to donate to Kentucky firefighters affected by recent floods, CBS News Philly reported.

“Fire gear, self-contained breathing apparatus, hand tools, hose, a whole pallet of boots,” Palisades Regional Fire Rescue Chief William Shick said.

Shick put a call for gear donations after seeing pictures of flooded fire stations.

Four days later, neighboring companies and some from New Jersey donated more than $500,000 worth of supplies.

“The response was overwhelming,” Shick said.

Thank you to ALL of the fire rescue companies, businesses and neighbors who have been donating gear, supplies as well as funds to fuel our trucks delivering the donations.
