Two of the four people struck by lightning Thursday night in Lafayette Park near the White House have died.
The victims were identified as a couple from Wisconsin, NBC4 reported Friday morning.
Two adult males and two adult females were transported to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries, DC Fire/EMS Spokesman Vito Maggiolo said in a Twitter video.
He lauded officers with the uniformed division of the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S Park Police who not only witnessed the incident, but responded and immediately initiated care until DC crews arrived.
More information about the incident is expected to be released later Friday.
