The U.S. Fire Administration announced the deaths of two pilots killed in a July 21 helicopter crash at the Moose Fire in Idaho.
Thomas Hayes and Jared Bird were working the Moose Fire in the Salmon-Challis National Forest when the helicopter crashed into the Salmon River.
The CH-47D Chinook helicopter crashed around 3:30 p.m., according to EastIdahoNews.com.
Rescuers freed the two pilots from the crash scene and they were taken to the hospital where they succumbed of their injuries.
Bird, 36, of Anchorage, AK, and Hayes, 41, of Post Falls, ID, worked with ROTAK Helicopter Services.
