The evaluation of the candidates’ physical and condition status will take approximately one month. 541 of the 101-person quota were female personnel. IMM, recording the exam process with a camera, carries out a transparent process with the inspectors it has assigned, and does not leave any question marks in the minds of the candidates.
The recruitment process of 657 firefighters to be employed by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) subject to the Civil Servants Law No. 541 continues with all its transparency. “NO CRITERIA OTHER THAN SUCCESS”
Emphasizing that all examination processes are shared with the public in a transparent manner, İBB Human Resources Manager Sinan Gündüz said that they are based on institutional merit. Gunduz continued:
“From the preparation of the questions, how to get our friends according to their scores, to the announcement and collection of applications via e-Government; We present the whole process, from the creation of the track here to the recording of the camera, to the attention of the public. Within the scope of the principle of accountability, we also evaluate all applications. Apart from success, no other criteria come into play here.”
CANDIDATES TRUST THAT IMM MANAGES THE PROCESS FAIRLY
Firefighter candidates who shared their views expressed their thoughts that IMM acted fairly and transparently in the recruitment process. A male citizen, who came to Istanbul from Adana for the exams, stated that other municipalities recruited for interviews; but he said that the fact that IMM evaluates according to the performance in the written exam and the track creates confidence. Another female candidate said, “I find it very fair. That’s what happened last time. I believe I have a merit-based reproach.” made a statement.
WOMEN SHOWN THEIR COURAGE AGAIN
Last February, IMM opened a quota of 50 “firefighters” for women for the first time in its history, and a total of 119 female candidates competed in the track. Now, hundreds of female candidates like male candidates to find a place in the quota of 101; he tries to get the best ranking in a series of challenges such as lifting weights, climbing the stairs of a two-story platform, using a fire hose, jumping, carrying a 30-pound mannequin, push-ups and barfixes.
EXAMS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL JULY 16
According to the points they get as a result of both their written and physical performance, 541 people will start their duties. Candidates who successfully complete their three-month training as “candidate civil servants” will be deployed to their new positions.
