DERBY — The annual Independence Day fireworks display co-hosted by Shelton and Derby will go forward with fireworks only being launched from the Shelton side this year. At least one alderman is calling that idea a dud amid other questions regarding the reasoning behind the change.
“This is one of the biggest things Derby has. People love it,” said Alderman Ron Sill of the city’s Second Ward. “It’s a little friendly competition with Shelton. Derby always does a fantastic job.”
